Dead Ringer Press is an independent online publication that champions original short crime fiction from new voices.
We publish crime stories with a pulse, a sense of humour, and that aim to entertain.
What we publish
Dead Ringer Press publishes original crime fiction that puts character before convention. We're interested in the choices people make under pressure, the motives behind them, and the consequences that follow. Our tastes range from classic mystery to contemporary noir, but whatever the style, we want distinctive writing that keeps readers turning the page.
From the editor
Zachary Colbert is a UK crime writer and editor with a background in journalism, cultural criticism and a love of noir fiction. Dead Ringer Press is a small, independent home for new crime fiction centred around strong characters, distinctive voices and something deadly to say. As an editor, he's less interested in formulas than in stories that feel alive, whether they're noir, mystery, procedural, dark comedy or something harder to classify.
Independence
Dead Ringer Press is independent and self-funded, so be patient with us. Edited and published independently from the UK.
